Carob trees are native to the Mediterranean. These particular carob seed pods are grown in California and are pesticide-free and fertilizer-free. Carob is sometimes used as a healthier substitute for chocolate. They have a chocolate flavor and aroma. The pods can be ground up into a powder like cocoa powder, or they can be soaked in hot water to make a tea, and the softened flesh of the pods can be chewed. The hard seeds inside are inedible. It is called “St. John’s Bread” because it is thought that the seed pods and pulp of this tree were the “locusts” that nourished St. John during his time in the desert/wilderness. Hoodoo practitioners use these pods for both health and protection, and it is also used in magic circles for hex breaking and calling spirits. Add to a ritual tea or incense.

This listing is for ONE carob seed pod.

They are medium-large as shown in the photo, and range in size from 4.5”-6” in length. Two pods will be randomly selected and shipped to you.
