Apollo- 100% Pewter Necklace
Apollo, the son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of the chaste huntress Artemis, is the Greek god of music, truth and prophecy, healing, the sun and light and poetry. He was the prophetic deity of the Delphic Oracle. As the father of Asclepius, he became associated with healing and medicine, but was also the bringer of disease and death with his arrows. Hermes created the lyre for him as the patron god of music and poetry and it became an attribute of Apollo. As Apollo Helios he became associated with Helios, the Titan god of the sun. This ideal kouros, a young beardless athletic youth generally of noble birth, was the subject of many a Greek, Roman and Renaissance sculptor. His influence on the arts continues till today:
Apollonian impulses confer intellectual order on the Dionysian impulses of chaotic creativity and a fusion of the two is considered most desirable.
