STRAW "WICKER" EFFIGY

OFFERING TO THE FLAME

Traditionally, the Wicker Effigy, or Wicker Man, was a large wicker figure burned during ancient Celtic fire festivals as an offering to the gods & the land. Some accounts claim cominals were sactificed wichid it, while others suggest it was filled with herbs, foods, wine, and offerings to ensure divine favor & a bountiful harvest. Today, wicker effigies are burned symbolically at fire & music festivals.

This effigy may be used as an altar decoration or burned with offerings as a ritual sacrifice. Add bay leaves or written blessings of gratitude, anoint it with oils, or adorn it with seasonal herbs & flowers. It can then be offered to the flame or placed on an altar as a deity offering.
