Rose of Jericho - Magickal Resurrection Plant

The Rose of Jericho, (Anastatica hierochuntica), also known as the Resurrection Plant, or Resurrection Flower, is a curious plant species that is native to the deserts of North Africa. The amazing ability of this plant is that it can survive for many years without any water. In fact, after the rainy season, the plant dries up, curling it’s branches into a ball and waits patiently for the next rain. It has the ability to remain in the desert for several years until the rain finds it and the ball uncurls as the plant wakes up. This process is believed to harbor magickal resurrection abilities which can be used to achieve various goals. To awaken your Jericho Rose and invoke it’s power, place it in a dish of rain water or spring water, on a Friday during a waxing Moon. Chant the following incantation to your plant, or a variation of, “I, (state your name), from your deep slumber do wake, And I name you (give it a name such as prosperity, protection, love, etc) and ask that you take, This life-giving water and tender care from me, and in return grant (financial gain, protection from enemies, finding true love, etc). Blessed be.” Allow up to seven days for your plant to bloom, taking care to change the old water for fresh water every day or two. The discarded water can be used to sprinkle around your home for abundance or protection. Once you’ve done your spell and received your results you can remove the Rose from the water and say to it: ”Thank you for your blessings, I put you back now to your sleep. Until I call you back to life again, Well rest, and merry keep.” The dried plant may be stored somewhere safe until it is needed again.
